Deaf Facility and Inclusion Captain

Serving as the Deaf Facility and Inclusion Captain at Mount View Primary in 2022 gave me the opportunity to support hearing-impaired students and contribute to an inclusive school environment. I was responsible for coordinating daily assistance, attending leadership meetings, and ensuring that students’ needs were met effectively. This role required strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to manage responsibilities efficiently while supporting both students and staff. I also helped organize events, such as Facility Fathers’ Night and Deaf Sports, which fostered community engagement and awareness. Leading initiatives like the Brave Butterfly Group further allowed me to advocate for hearing awareness and promote inclusivity among peers. Overall, this experience strengthened my leadership abilities, empathy, and commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
